Someone Got a New Pair of Shoes...

And, it wasn't me!  (The only girl in the house!)

It was Evan!

He wore his first pair of shoes today! He's such a big boy :) Jimmy and I have been saying for about the last week that we needed to get Evan a pair of comfortable shoes. No, he's not walking yet. (Gosh, we are still working on sitting!) However, he does love to stand and bounce while someone is holding him. So, I wanted something more than just socks to protect his cute little feet. I saw an adorable pair of "baby sneaks" at a local grocery store this morning and decided to go ahead and get them. Baby shoes are so cute! I do have to say though, there are about 3 styles of girl shoes for every 1 style of boy shoes. (See, we girls are taught at an early age the more shoes the better!)

At first when I put them on he just stared at his feet. He wouldn't even move. Then, all of a sudden, they became toys. He couldn't stop playing with the shoes and his feet. He was trying so hard to get them in his mouth :)

Evan's first pair of "Kicks!"

Not knowing what to make of them...

Then he realized he could get them in his mouth and all was good with the world.

So, I put the shoes on Evan and he immediately started rubbing his feet together.  At first I thought he was trying to take the shoes off.  But, as I watched him, I noticed that he seemed to be facinated by the sound his little shoes made as he rubbed his feet together.  Of course, being the crazy mom I am, I had to video tape it :)

I mean, honestly, how cute is he?!?!
I know.  I know.  I 'm a little biased :)

P.S.  Yes, I realize I just did a whole blog post about my son's first pair of shoes!  Like I mentioned before - I'm a crazy, first-time mom, who is obsessed about documenting my son and his every move/accomplishment/milestone.  And, yes, I probably need help :)

A Smile is Worth A Thousand Words...

This evening I took on the task of  downloading some videos off of our camera.  You see, I'm one of those moms where anytime Evan does ANYTHING I grab my little FLip video camera and tape it.  So, it was a task to download, label, and organize hundreds of short videos.  But, I will not delete a single one of them.  No matter how short (some are just seconds long) or how boring they may seem to others (some involve Evan just laying there while I'm trying to coax him to laugh).  Watching them was like Evan grow up all over again over the past few months.  They made me so happy!  By the time I got to the last video I had a smile on my face and 'happy' tears running down my cheeks.

A favorite of mine (they ALL really are my favorites!) is one where Evan had just started smiling and Jimmy and I were trying to capture it on film.  It was a tiny smile.  The kind where just the corners of the mouth turned up just slightly.  But, I remember, at the time, it was the most beautiful smile I had even seen.  To me it was his way of saying, "Yep Mommy and Daddy, I know you are are there and I love you."  It makes my heart melt :)

One Lucky Gal...

That's me!  I was going through the massive amount of pictures Jimmy and I have saved to our computer this evening and I came across our Engagement Picture proofs.  I loved looking back through them!  We had the most incredible photographer and the session was so much fun.  We spent the whole time laughing.  Which, if you know Jimmy and I shouldn't come as much of a shock.  It brought me back to a time when I thought my world was ending because I couldn't decide on a color for my bridesmaids dresses :)

I know I've said it before and I usually tell anyone that will listen...But, I'm going to say it again...

I have the MOST amazing husband!

He is my everything.  I love him more and more with each passing day!  Sure, we have our days where we get on each others nerves and it seems like we argue over every little thing.  But, he makes me so happy and my heart smile.  He gave me the most wonderful gift in the world...my precious little boy!

AND, might I add, Jimmy is pretty darn lucky himself to have ended up with a gal like me.  :)

Here are some of my favorites!

A Visit From Aunt Net!

My sister-in-law, Annette, came to visit us this past week.  We had so much fun!  It was great just to relax and spend some time with her.  Evan had such a fun time with his Aunt Net!  One of the highlights of her trip...Aunt Net offered to babysit Evan for an evening while Jimmy and I had a "Date Night!"  What an awesome treat!  We already miss her!  Here are some pictures of our time together :)

Evan was super excited about getting to walk with Aun Net!  He bounced around the whole time!

 Exhausted after their walk :)

Five Months!

Evan turned 5 months old this week!  I know I say this with every passing month...But, I cannot believe it has already been 5 months since my sweet baby boy came into this world!  He is so happy and so much fun!  You should see him - He now reaches for things with both hands and immediately tries to put everything in his mouth.  He laughs more and more each day!  He is still working on sitting up.  He tries SO hard!  I love his determination!  He slept COMPLETELY through the night for the first time this past week.  I put him to bed at 8:30 and he slept until 7:30 the next morning!  Ah, that was an awesome night for Mommy.  So far he seems to like his rice cereal.  He gets distracted very easily, so feeding him takes a while, but he is getting really good at taking everything in.  I am amazed by him and everything he does everyday.  He is such a sweet heart!

Evan had an appointment last week to check his weight.  His pediatrician wanted Jimmy and I to bring him in again at 5 months instead of waiting until 6 months because he had dropped from the 50th to the 20th percentile in his weight measurement at 4 months.  Everything checked out beautifully and he is back up in the 50th percentile!

(It seems every picture I have of him right now he has his hands in his mouth!)

5 Month Statistics
Weight:  15 pounds 10 ounces
Length:  25.5 inches

they'll turn out to be heroes,
even if it's just in your own eyes.
